Welcome to Scare Me!
New issues of Scare Me! are published every Thursday morning at 6:00 am PST.

Hi! I’m Michelle Delgado, the author of Scare Me!
I began writing this newsletter in the spring of 2025 after five years of becoming increasingly obsessed with horror. What began as a passing curiosity about Koji Suzuki’s Ring has blossomed into a towering TBR and an ever-growing Letterboxd watchlist.
I adore my partner and my friends, but honestly, there is only so much horror talk non-fans should be expected to tolerate. I created this newsletter as a signal flare, hoping it would conjure up a horror community around me. Scare Me! is part friendly pen pal, part old-school blog, and entirely about the genre that’s brought us all together.
Scare Me! is my latest creative endeavor in a long and meandering writing career. From 2016 through 2019, I published a weekly history newsletter Scavenger. In 2020, I crowd-funded Summerhouse, a zine about DC’s many DIY subcultures.
I’ve also been a freelance journalist for places like Smithsonian, WIRED, Broccoli Magazine, Catapult, Vox, Literary Hub, and many other national and local outlets. I’m generally drawn to stories about collectors, obscure primary sources, and ephemeral media—all of which show up in horror quite often!
Scare Me! readers may be particularly interested in my history of Scream and my essay about how Q. Hayashida’s Dorohedoro once saved my sanity.
